Weekend SEO - Practical Guide - SEO Friendly Drupal CMS
Turn your Drupal CMS into SEO Friendly Drupal CMS and get Good Search Engine Rankings - Want to know How ?
For Drupal CMS - Try to select a SEO friendly Drupal theme & modules to rank higher in search engines.
SEO Friendly Drupal Modules - You can use the following list of SEO modules for your Drupal CMS / site :
- Configure clean URLs - By default, Drupal automatically creates web addresses like http://www.example.com/?q=node/50, which are not user- or search engine friendly.
Enable Clean URLS to remove the =? at Administer > Settings > Clean URLs in the General settings area. - Path - Search engines will give better rankings to pages that have more human-friendly URLs, especially if they include relevant keywords. This module helps you optionally create SEO friendly URL aliases for your Drupal pages.
- Pathauto - This module creates automatic path aliases for nodes, users, and category terms, eliminating the need to create them manually.
- Page Title - Page Title is used on SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) and can greatly enhance your websites SEO (Search Engine Optimization). This module gives a better control over the page title. You can specify patterns for how the title should be structured and, on content creation pages, specify the page title separately to the content's title.
- Nodewords - Allows you to set meta tags (keyword & description) for each page. Giving more attention to the important metadata tags such as keywords and description allows you to get better search engine positioning.
- XMLSitemap - This module creates a sitemap that conforms to the sitemaps.org specification. This helps search engines to more intelligently crawl a website and keep their results up to date. The sitemap created by the module can be automatically submitted to Ask, Google, Bing (formerly Windows Live Search), and Yahoo! search engines.
- Global Redirect - This is a simple module which ensures that your content is only visible at the one, best URL possible (i.e. requests for node/2 or node/2/ are forwarded to alias-for-node-2).
- Goole Analytics - Adds the Google Analytics web statistics tracking system to your website.
- Link Checker - It shows all broken links in the reports/logs section.
- SEO Checklist - This module provides a checklist of good Drupal SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices. Maximize the presence of your Drupal website in the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. It provides a checklist that helps you keep track of what needs to be done.
- SEO Friend - the goal of the module is to help you make your Drupal site more SEO friendly.
- Search404 - Instead of showing a standard "404 Page not found", this module performs a search on the keywords in the URL, e.g. if a user goes to http://example.com/does/not/exist, this module will do a search for "does not exist".
- Service Links - The service links module enables admins to add links to a number of social bookmarking sites, blog search sites etc. Included sites are: Buzz Yahoo, del.icio.us, Digg, Facebook, Furl, Google, IceRocket, LinkedIn, ma.gnolia.com, MySpace, Newsvine, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Technorati, Twitter, Yahoo (some of them are just available in dev version for now!).
- Add To Any - This module helps readers share, bookmark, and email your pages and stories using any service, such as Facebook, Twitter, Delicious, Digg, and over 100 more sharing and social bookmarking sites. Services are updated automatically.
- URL List - Creates a list of node URLs at /q=urllist.txt or (/urllist.txt for clean URLs) for submitting to search engines like Yahoo! Site Explorer.
- RobotxTxt - Use this module when you are running multiple Drupal sites from a single code base (multisite) and you need a different robots.txt file for each one. This module generates the robots.txt file dynamically and gives you the chance to edit it, on a per-site basis, from the web UI.
- SEO Checker - The SEO Compliance Checker checks node content on search engine optimization upon its creation or modification. Whenever a publisher creates or modifies a node, the module performs a set of checks and gives the user a feedback on the compliance of the rules.
- Content Optimizer - This module helps increase your Drupal site’s search engine (e.g. Google) rankings by improving on-page optimization factors. It enables a quick SEO analyzer that provides instant analysis of any site content as a quick and easy guide to assure SEO best practices are consistently followed. The analysis displays vital content statistics and recommendations for improving search engine rankings.
- SEO Watcher - This module searches specified keywords with major search engines and checks the rank of your site and competitive sites once a day and creates the reports.
